Introducing the Wheel of Brisbane at Southbank!

The small white dot above the wheel is the moon of the night before Mid-Autumn Festival, looks so small, right?

The Wheel of Brisbane weight approximately 300tonnes and has 42 gondolas providing panoramic views across Brisbane city and Brisbane river.

It is the Australia version of Eye on Malaysia.

and i went for a ride...

at the bottom of the wheel:

can u recognise who are the 3?

answer reveals!

the ticket costs me Aud15. So must take a picture with it.

they are so considerate!!
asking the passenger to beware if they are wearing high heels,
but i'm not!! haha!

in front of one of the gondolas

see the colourful building behind us?
it's the Casino in Brisbane city,
normally it's in purple colour, but it will change its colour from time to time!
so high tech~

yeap, it's a group photo consist of five of us:
samantha, alice, shirin, wei jien n me.

trying to capture both scenery n human..

After all the photo of ourselves, there are some of the views....

Though the Wheel seems nice and the scenery is spectacular, i still think The Eye on Malaysia is nicer. Why? Because i'm patriotic? haha, i think maybe because i can c the whole view of KL from The Eye which normally i don't get to. In Brisbane, the buildings are seldom tall, thus the scenery from the ground and from the gondolas make no big difference; but in Malaysia, all the buildings are skyscrapers, the view from the top of The Eye on Malaysia is fantastic.

oh ya, miss something out, The Wheel of Brisbane is elegant with the white light; The Eye on Malaysia is gorgeous with different colours.

So just have a look with The Eye On Malaysia!

see? it has blue, red, yellow and green..maybe more.

i can even see Twin Towers from The Eye leh!

So after the comparison, I would still opt for The Eye on Malaysia. =P
(it's even cheaper!)
Duduk-lah Produk Malaysia!

I should be studying now but i'm here to update my blog... @_@
y? thanks to the urge from vincent and pizza lo!!!

ok, now this is a post regarding River Festival. River Festival is an annual events and has many programs throughout the whole week, but the most interesting among all the program is River Fire, which is fireworks for half an hour! yes, u r right, half an hour!!! so, as a fireworks lover, how can i absent from that, right? here we go!!!

i realised another thing, which is every time when i'm going to some huge events, i have to hand in an assignment on the day before it.... the last time was biology essay before Buddhist Festival and now is anatomy essay.

kev, wei jien and her sis waited at the jetty for another 15 minutes just because i'm late! i'm sorry... we should be meeting by 3.15pm but i sleep till 3pm...alright, i'm sorry for being late!!!

Then when we reached southbank, we realised we weren't too early, as there were already many people waiting there...they even brought along their mat n chairs, seemed to be very experienced.. oh ya, the fireworks should be started by 7pm. Another shocking thing is they even had guards at the jetty checking each and every one's bag to make sure no alcohol and dangerous stuff being brought into the palce. They even asked me to throw my bottle of water, the reason was only sealed bottles are allowed. I answered yes, and walked past them without throwing my bottle into the bin behind them. I will die of thirst without water for the whole night leh!!

We met chia yee and khai chin there after we actually tried to use up a huge space by putting a small mat/towel on the floor, as there will still be another few friends coming over. Well, we did underestimate the amount of people as there was another gang joining us without we noticing. and they were late!!!

Not forgetting to show off the super delicious strawberry tarts by:

KeVinKKS®
The Ultimate Anime & Food Monster

Looks delicious hor? They ARE!!

Anyway, we played 'chor dai di' when we were waiting for time to fly and when the number of people joining us increased, we played 'heart attack'. Being great organiser, they provided some performance to help us kill time. Below are some pictures of that:

Guess what are the small dots in the sky that flies in a line?

Birds? No, another guess. Give another closer look of it!

Get it? alright, another one.

Yes!! they are planes!! they kept the distance between each other but yet they can fly in patterns!!

Obviously, this performance just lasted for few minutes and they were gone. So we continued playing until the sky was dark, so what else can we do? Of course is taking pictures la!!!

Wei jien and his sis, Pey Weon

If you are wondering how would the crowd be, let me show u here!

If you think just so so only mah, imagine this crowd along the whole river and the bridge! Ya, i did not exaggerate the number of people!!

The attractive thing of that purplish building is it is the casino in city,
and it is changing its colour when i took this, very colourful and nice!!

After a long wait, finally, FINALLY, the fireworks started! It was started by count down of the crowd and a plane (or a jet plane, i'm not sure) with fire tail (this is the best description i can give, sorry..). Then the show started! Below are some pictures i've taken during the half an hour, and a few short videos of it.. the quality is not that good as my hand was too tired to hold the camera still enough for the pictures and video...and of course my skill not professional la!!

this is the boat that released the fireworks, don't worry, it was not on fire!
it just finished releasing heaps of red colour fireworks, that's why it was still having red flame.

After the fireworks, we quickly left the place as there will be many many many many, really many, people leaving.. but:

people mountain people sea...

We went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner, hoping to eat their famous ramen, ended up the ramen were sold out.. unbelievable right? Kev went to subway, and ridiculously Subway ran out of bread~ haha..

No ramen, so we ate rice la!

my dinner, unagi don.
*actually khai chin, pey weon and i ordered the same thing.

wei jien's dinner

after dinner, 大合照!!

That's all about the event (maybe i left out some incidents...), and let me end this post with a 小插曲:

After dinner we went home and when we walked past a pub, a guy went up to us, opening his hand asking for hugs from us. Khai chin and I were stunned and then quickly walked away. phew~ Luckily he didn't chase us, or else really... luckily there are 5 of us and we have 2 guys with us. haha!
