20/7/2009

Yoyoyo, last post for my Tasmania posts!!! finally~~~

We departed from Launceston city to Evandale.. we 竟然发现 Nile River on the way!! haha, see how gigantic the river is when we cross the bridge:

1. Lake Leake, Campbell Town

this is a man-made lake that constructed for Campbell Town's permanent water supply.
the scenery is just so so, but it's very cold n windy there.... because of the lake? hmm.. dunno y~

rainbow leh!!!!

winery along the way~~
launceston is famous for its wineries, u can see wineries all along the way.

2. Freycinet National Park

Freycinet is one of the oldest park in Tasmania. In this park, you can have a look at a small settlement named Coles Bay and the great Tas icon - Wineglass Bay.

We decided to take the Wineglass Bay Lookout circuit which is considered quite difficult due to the steep uphill track.

I guess this is the Great Oyster Bay...

Nah!!! Wineglass Bay!
i heard there are few stories regarding the name of this bay,
but the most common one is that the bay looks like a wineglass shape...
it's also famous for its crystal clear water with bleach white sandy beach!

3. Honeymoon Bay

haha, whoever who wants to go Tasmania for honeymoon, can come over here la! it's very near to Freycinet Wineglass Bay... but believe me, it's not so beautiful compared to all other bays i've seen...

ok, i guess the name comes from the shape of the bay (it's small!!) which looks like a moon (新月)..

4. Richardson Bay

5. Bicheno Blowhole & Iron rocks

ok, geological explanation: blowhole is a hole that formed from sea caves which grow landwards and upwards. This causes them to have a vertical shaft and exposes itself towards the surface. Thus it results in differences of pressure and have a spectacular blast of water from the blowhole when there are waves...

1. Cape Tourville

- one of the 60 Great Short walk to view the magnificent ocean view along the track
- half way along the track, 100m above sea level, we can also view mountains from far!!

Cape Tourville Lighthouse on Lemon Rock
this lighthouse is one of the icon in Tasmania, its an automatic lighthouse...

2. Richmond Town - St Luke's Church

richmond being a historical town has many historical sites, St Luke's church is one of it.

This church was completed in 1836 and repaired + re-decorated in 2003/4.

3. Richmond town - Richmond Bridge

Richmond Bridge is most famous landmark in Richmond town. This bridge was built in 1823 and is now one of the oldest bridge in Australia that is still in use. It crosses Coal River.

It's now added into Australian National Heritage List.

百年老桥哦!!!

4. Eaglehawk Neck

5. Tasman Arch and Devil's Kitchen, Tasman National Park

可怜的我们..... 堂堂大学生竟然要坐在路边吃午餐!!!! 还要被拍了下来....
虽然是set tripod 拍的....

Dootown:

6. Port Arthur

- Tasmania top tourist attraction!!
- it is Australia largest penal station and is said to be an inescapable prison.. though there was a case where 3 prisoners escaped..

if u wan to know more, just wikipedia will do.. i lazy to illustrate the story of it... =P

the map of Port Arthur

since Port Arthur is actually surrounded by water which causes the gaol is naturally secured..
thus we have to take a cruise to surround the place... the fee is included in the entrance fee..

Point Puer and the nearby The Isle of the Dead
this is the place to imprison those juveniles...

the penitentiary with many separate cells inside.

the cells inside the penitentiary

我又被监禁了!!!
从Melbourne 被困到 Tasmania 来... haiz....

The Military Area - Tower Cottage Officers' Quarters
this area is built higher so that the soldiers can always be alert for troubles
and defend themselves...

The Convict-built church
Mei Fern believed that it's Kellie's Castle when Ang told her that...
oops.. she should come ipoh o...

at the Musuem:

We were each given a poker card and can find our match in the musuem...
and i'm imitating that pitiful young guy...

7. University of Tasmania, Hobart

We actually didn't want to drive to UTas but accidentally and don't know how jiu drive into UTas already.... So, since we were there, of course i have to find my DEAR friend mah....

haiz... he said if i too long didn't find him, he will forget me wo.... T_T

tadaa!!! School of Pharmacy of UTas...
they even have a rack full with apparatus and chemicals there..
