Strahan

I thought it read as /stra-han/, which was proven wrong lo!! it's /stron/...
Strahan was once the port for the mines... despite all the old heritage buildings, many people (like us) go there for their heritage cruise to Gordon River.. (cost me $85.00)

1. Macquirie Harbour

early morning at the harbour

the Lady Jane Franklin II cruise
from Macquirie Harbour to Gordon River and Sarah Island
this is an award winning cruise o!

2. Gordon River

This river is one of the major river in Tasmania. The scenery along the cruise was fascinating.
The cruise actually brings us into the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park...

Guess what is he thinking??

a white-bellied sea eagle, on the tree branch... according to the crew of the cruise, it's not easy to get to see this eagle, especially a matured one..

3. Hells Gate

the mouth of Macquirie Harbour... the entrance to the Southern Ocean.

on the left: lighthouse of Bonnet Island

The training wall, with lines of rocks breaking the water...

prefect reflection x1!!!

prefect reflection x2!!!

prefect reflection x3!!

seriously, u cant differentiate whether is this photo upside down or not.... hehe...

ok, more n more n more perfect reflections, though our cruise is passing by..
we were greatly immersed into the scenery where the reflection of riverside rainforest on the dark water.. * ang said the perfect reflection will show on dark water, the black colour one...

明天会更好!!!

Fishing farm on the river - salmons and trouts...

The rainforest walk:

千年老树....

4. Sarah Island

This historic place was the first settlement of Macquirie Harbour, the place for 'secondary' punishment or the gaol... also having the infamously brutal penal colony..

it's because of Sarah island that the entrance to the harbour was known Hells gate...
there were many stories regarding Sarah Island, the bad ones, the scary ones...

Many tried to escape from this island, but most who made an attempt were dead... there is no wat of escaping except swimming or by sampan maybe... however the dangerous current of hells gate caused many of them to fail escaping...

another way to escape from this island was committing a serious crime such as murder or attempted murder, then you will be sent to Hobart for trial...

we had a guided tour through the island:

the Gaol
the tiny windowless cell, was for the prisoners....

the pententiary

back to the harbour

5. Horgarth Falls

due to the advice from the staff at the tourist info center, we drive from the harbour to the People's Park and parked Ah Ju (our car) there..

This is one of the 60 Great short walks in tasmania.. walking from Peoples park through bushes up to the falls..

After walking bout half an hour:

calls from Jen,
Ang is so busy talking to his 爱人 till not aware of taking pic...

the name of the fern tree: Fish Fern.
hmm... fish and fern... haha..

6. Ocean Head beach

-located near to the Macquirie Heads.

the sunset

OH.... we know u love her!!

just in case no 1 knows why are they pose so weird..
i would tell evr1 that they are trying to show the phrase
'I LOVE U'

7. View 42 degree Restaurant

view from the top of the restaurant..
my geography not good la, but then google tells me that the location of Tasmania on Earth is between 40 to 44 degrees South.. so the name of the restaurant comes from it's location, i guessed..

8. Cabin, our accommodation

our dinner:

to be continued....
